Matchday Guide: Arrive early for action-packed final-day

All you need to know ahead of Saturday's match

26 April 2024

We're gearing up for a very busy final matchday, with plenty going on to round off your season with the Dons!

With a sell-out crowd for the match at home to Walsall, we're expecting a fantastic atmosphere, but there's a lot more going on apart from the action on the pitch. To avoid queuing and to take your seat before the pre-match entertainment, it's worth arriving in plenty of time for the game.

The first of our awards presentations starts at 2.15 pm and this is followed by a lap of honour for our women's team at 2.45 pm after their title-winning success. Prior to kick-off, we'll be holding a minute's applause to commemorate the life of former Dons manager Joe Kinnear.

Following the game, we'll be presenting more awards, before an evening of entertainment in the Viticult Lounge from 6 pm, starting with our awards ceremony, hosted by Aaron Paul, with DJ Joshua Roberts on decks from 7.15 pm.

We'll be keeping some of our kiosks open in the Food Zone and in the Cappagh Stand after the match until the awards ceremony, offering an opportunity to enjoy a bite to eat.

To make your matchday run smoothly, take a look at our full matchday guide below.

Schedule for awards presentations and ceremony

  • 2.15 pm – Junior Dons, WDON, and Dons TV presentations on the pitch
  • 2.45 pm – Women’s lap of honour
  • 5.00 pm (five minutes or so after final whistle) – Player of the Match presentation, photos with mascots and match sponsors
  • 5.05 pm –  Awards for men’s and women’s Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year
  • 6 pm – End of season party starts in Viticult Lounge
  • 6.30 pm – Season overview video starts award ceremony, which includes interviews with both managers and Player of the Year winners. Rest of awards then presented, including Players’ Player of the Year, Goals of the Season, and Club Player of the Year
  • 7.15 pm - Awards ceremony ends and DJ Joshua Roberts gets the party started

Open to all ticket holders, entry will be on a first come, first served basis through reception. In the same way as our usual Player of the Match celebrations, those not in hospitality will need to join a queue close to the autograph zone (back of the Club Shop), before being shown to the Viticult Lounge/Mezzanine area.

Remembering Joe Kinnear

We'll be remembering Joe Kinnear on Saturday with a minute's applause before the match at home to Walsall.

The Club will also be paying tribute to Joe with an article in the matchday programme.

Please join us in commemorating the life of a man whose contribution to Wimbledon will never be forgotten, his most notable achievements as manager including guiding the Dons to a sixth place Premier League finish in 1994.
